Is Burnham a Good Boiler? A Quality Inspector's Honest Field Notes (2025)

Condensing gas boilers need their filters, traps, and venting checked. If you skip that, you're gonna have a bad experience with any brand.

I'd also hesitate if a quote is significantly lower than the others, because that usually means something got cut—like a condensate neutralizer or a proper load calculation. And I'd hesitate if the contractor can't answer questions about warranty registration. Burnham's warranty is solid, but it's not automatic; you have to register the unit. Per FTC guidelines (ftc.gov), advertising claims should be truthful and substantiated, and the AFUE rating on the spec sheet is a good example of a substantiated efficiency claim. Keep the manual and the proof of purchase.

From my side of the counter, the companies that win are the ones with efficient processes. The contractor who fixed the condensate line on the spot saved himself a return trip and kept a customer. The property manager who asked for a second set of eyes avoided a potential call-back. That's what I mean when I say efficiency is a competitive advantage—it's not about speed for its own sake. It's about catching the little things before they become big things.

Buy it because you've seen the spec sheet, you've read the manual, and you're willing to do the maintenance. That's what makes any good boiler good.
